Liel Abada makes Celtic claim despite controversial exit
It would be safe to say that Liel Abada's time at Celtic did not have the ending that anybody would have been hoping for. The winger had been a vital part, even if not always a starter, of the club's success under the management of Ange Postecoglou. And with Jota leaving in the summer, and Brendan Rodgers arriving as manager, his role at Parkhead was expected to only grow in the coming years.
Abada even signed a long-term extension with Celtic in September of last year. Clearly, there were plans for him to remain in Glasgow for the foreseeable future.
Unfortunately, things did not work out as expected. And it did not have much to do with the on-field action.
There is not much left to be said about the situation Abada had found himself in at Celtic for the last few months of his stint in Glasgow. When he completed a move to Charlotte FC earlier this year, it was viewed as the best step forward for everybody involved. Yet, it is clear that the winger has great memories from his time in green-and-white.
Abada makes Celtic claim despite controversial exit
As reported by the Daily Record, Abada told Sport 1 when pressed on his time at Celtic:
"I had an amazing time at Celtic and now my head is on a new journey."
It is good to see that Abada continues to speak positively of his experience at Celtic, even though it was not the happiest of endings for someone who contributed a lot to the club during his brief two-and-a-half year spell. There could have been much more to come but we will never know.
We can only wish Abada the best of luck in his new journey. He is a fantastic talent. Hopefully, he has an absolutely wonderful time at Charlotte FC and manages to bring his career back on track.
