John Beaton's unbelievable Celtic stats go viral
Celtic supporters are not exactly fans of John Beaton. Anybody who has followed Scottish football for any considerable length of time will be well aware of that. He is considered one of the top referees in Scotland though and finds himself with the whistle in hand during the club's games quite often. That has been the case in two of their previous three league games, with the title race going down to the wire.
Beaton was the referee for the recent Glasgow Derby at Ibrox, which ended in a 3-3 draw. The penalty that he awarded to the Rangers on the day, for a 'foul' on Fabio Silva, was a major topic of discussion.
He was also the referee for the recent Dundee FC vs Celtic game at Dens Park. Fortunately, the Hoops did not drop any points this time around, coming home with a 2-1 win.
It is not just the major decisions from Beaton, like the Silva one, that have been under the microscope recently though. In fact, some of his stats from the recent two Celtic games have gone viral on social media.

Over those two games, Beaton has shown five yellow cards to Celtic, four at Ibrox and one at Dens Park. The Hoops conceded 23 fouls against the Rangers and 7 vs Dundee FC.
So, that is a yellow card every six fouls. But interestingly, the opposition team has not been shown a single yellow card over the course of those two matches, even though they have conceded 20 fouls in total, 10 each.
If the numbers indeed do not lie then they definitely could be telling an interesting story here. Of course, not every foul is the same and a lot of it is open to interpretation as well as the situation. But at some point, the law of averages should work.
