Celtic have already signed a midfielder this summer in the form of Paulo Bernardo. The Portuguese youngster enjoyed a solid loan spell at Parkhead and has been brought back on a permanent basis from Benfica. But if rumours are accurate then it seems pretty likely that the Hoops would make another addition in the middle of the park.

They have been linked with a number of midfielders in recent days. One has to wonder whether making another addition in midfielder is directly dependent on Matt O'Riley's future at Parkhead.

O'Riley has been linked with some of Europe's best teams this summer and Celtic have received multiple transfer offers for him already. But it seems that they are holding out for a Scottish record fee.

On the other hand, Wataru Endo of Liverpool is someone Celtic are rumoured to be monitoring. And Jamie Carragher seems to believe that he will leave Anfield this summer.

The belief appears to be that Endo does not fit Arne Slot's vision. As reported by Rousing The Kop, Carragher said while speaking on The Blood Red podcast:

"I think Endo will go, I’m pretty confident on that because it almost looks like he’s completely the opposite of what he wants in that role.

“It doesn’t mean he’s a bad player, it just means a manager wants to play a slightly different type of game or tactics or set-up. So, I think he’d play virtually everybody there instead of Endo actually."

Endo is 31 years of age. But that does not mean that he could not be a fantastic player for Celtic. Just look at how things have gone for other veteran signings like Joe Hart and Aaron Mooy in recent years. Kasper Schmeichel seems to have been a solid addition as well.

At the same time though, there have been some suggestions that it could take a transfer fee in the region of £15 million to sign Endo from Liverpool. If that was the case, then it would be safe to rule out Celtic from the race immediately. They are not going to make that kind of a move. End of story.
