Celtic are the champions of Scotland for the third straight season. It has been a rollercoaster of a league campaign for Brendan Rodgers' side but they managed to finish it on top. Of course, the job is not finished yet with one last game at Parkhead to be played, against St Mirren, before taking on the Rangers in the Scottish Cup final.

Then, the focus will turn towards the summer transfer window. At the end of the day, one cannot ignore that the performances and results have not always been satisfactory since the return of Rodgers.

Even if Celtic win their last game of the campaign, they will finish with six points less than they did last season. There is clearly room for improvement.

Centre-back is one area where the Hoops could look to strengthen. Jake Clarke-Salter is someone who Celtic have been linked with quite a bit in recent weeks after his impressive performances in the Championship. And the Englishman has now had a say on his future at QPR.

Jake Clarke-Salter comments on QPR future amid Celtic links

Clarke-Salter seems to be happy at QPR. As reported by Football League World, the former Chelsea centre-back said:

"If I'm being totally honest with myself, I had a lot of ambition growing up at Chelsea – captaining Chelsea and England youth sides – and I had some injuries along the way that has hindered my career so to have a home now. To be able to stay fit this season, which I always knew would come around again. I'm confident now that I can put those injuries behind me and I'm just happy now at QPR. I have a home, I had a good season in the end and I'm just looking forward to the future."

That does not mean that Clarke-Salter could not depart QPR in the summer, if the right offer came in. The chance to compete for silverware and in Europe with Celtic might just be that kind of an opportunity.

Clarke-Salter was one of the most highly-rated youngsters in the world at one point in time but his career at the senior level has not gone as well as expected. At 26 years of age, things appear to be back on track though. It is not just Celtic who appear to hold an interest in him but quite a few Premier League clubs as well.
