Celtic were expected to bring in a few players this January. More than a week of the transfer window has already passed but there has been no real movement in that regard so far. On the contrary, most of the activity at the moment seems to br around departures. Yosuke Ideguchi's move to Vissel Kobe has been officially announced already. The likes of Benjamin Siegrist, Rocco Vata and Yuki Kobayashi have been linked with moves away as well.

There is another Celtic player whose future at Parkhead is in doubt. And that is despite the fact that he was signed in the summer.

The player in question is none other than Gustaf Lagerbielke. The Swedish international was brought in in the summer for a transfer fee believed to be around £3 million.

After getting some chances early on in the season, when several other centre-backs were out injured, opportunities have been hard to come by for Lagerbielke. The expectation was that he would get more minutes after his heroics against Feyenoord in the Champions League. Instead, he has made just one appearance since then and does not even make the matchday squad most of the time.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Leece made an approach to Celtic for Lagerbielke. They hope to land the Swedish defender on a six-month loan deal with no summer signing clause.

Such a move would make sense for Celtic as well. Lagerbielke has barely featured since his summer arrival. There is no real point in him staying at Parkhead, if he is going to sit in the reserves on most days.

It remains to be seen if a move to Italy transpires for Lagerbielke or not. The Swedish international has been linked with other clubs as well.
