Inter Milan ready to make offer for Celtic superstar

Celtic need to strengthen in the upcoming January transfer window if they are to somehow bring their campaign back on track. The last thing on their mind right now should be about parting ways with one of their best players. And yet, it looks like Inter Milan have set their sights on one of the club's superstars.

A lot has been made about the downturn in form that players like Kyogo, Reo Hatate, Alistair Johnston, Greg Taylor and more have suffered since the appointment of Brendan Rodgers as manager in the summer. On the other hand, there have been some who have improved as well.

The name on top of that list is that of Matt O'Riley. The Danish international was always a good performer under the management of Ange Postecoglou as well but this season, he has taken his game to the next level.

He has been Celtic's best performer by far. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 9 goals and provided 8 assists in 24 appearances this season.

That kind of form has seen him being linked with some of the biggest clubs in the world. As reported by Sky Sports, Inter Milan are prepared to offer an initial loan until the end of the season with an obligation to sign him permanently in the summer.

Of course, such a deal would not make a ton of sense for Celtic, especially in the current situation. It is almost guaranteed that there would be a lot of interest in O'Riley's signature next summer anyway.

What O'Riley wants to do next would have a major impact on any decision as well. But for the time being, Celtic should not consider parting ways with him in the January transfer window.
