Fresh twist in Altay Bayindir to Celtic transfer saga
It is not a secret that Celtic need to sign a goalkeeper this summer in order to replace Joe Hart between the posts next season. The English legend had been the first-choice at Parkhead since joining the club in 2021 from Tottenham Hotspur but has retired recently. And it was looking like the Hoops were closing in on a move for a Manchester United player to fill the gap.
Rumours broke out in Turkey that Celtic were set to hand Altay Bayindir a four-year contract. The 26-year-old had joined Manchester United last summer but made only one appearance last season.
Someone like Bayindir could be a decent addition for Celtic and ticks a lot of boxes that the club would be looking for in their next goalkeeper. But speculation that a move is close seems to be wide of the mark.
As tweeted by Chris Wheeler, Manchester United sources deny speculation in Turkey that Bayindir is set to join Celtic. The goalkeeper has a decision to make this summer over whether he wants to stay as number two to Andre Onana after only playing once last season.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Bayindir. Him leaving Manchester United this summer would not come as a surprise. But for the time being, any move to Celtic does not appear to be close.
Celtic's search for a goalkeeper has seen them being linked with plenty of players. Bayindir is the latest name on that last.
It remains to be seen how the search plays out over the coming days and weeks. One can only hope that the club are successful in signing someone who comes in and is ready to be the number one from the get-go. Replacing Hart will not be an easy task.
