Fraser Forster makes superb Celtic claim on Ben Foster's podcast

Fraser Forster is someone who has an interesting legacy at Celtic. He spent two seasons on loan at Parkhead, from Newcastle United, before joining the club permanently. After spending four years in Glasgow, he would leave for Southampton but did return on a temporary basis in the 2019/20 season, helping the Hoops win 9IAR and putting in an iconic performance in the Scottish League Cup final against the Rangers.

But then, there was speculation in the summer of 2020 that the club had tried to sign Forster permanently but he wanted to remain at Southampton, even though he was struggling to get into their starting XI at the time. That did not go down well with many Celtic supporters.

Overall though, one cannot deny the contributions Forster made to Celtic over his five seasons at the club. Now 36 years of age, he continues to play at the Premier League level and is currently a cover goalkeeper at Tottenham Hotspur.

Forster clearly has fond memories of his time at Celtic. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, the Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper said while speaking on Fozcast – The Ben Foster Podcast:

"Honestly, what a club, an amazing club! Fans were amazing, just everything about it; I just loved it. I was fortunate I got to go there so early in my career, but yeah, I loved my first time there. I obviously got to go back for a season later in my career, and I really loved it.

“Just such a special club, it means the world to the fans to have the competition with Rangers being in Glasgow. It’s just a huge club; the following is huge."

People down south, and around the world for that matter, often do not appreciate how big Celtic are as a club. Perhaps it is because the Scottish Premiership is not a globally popular league or the clubs do not have the finances to compete with European football's top teams.

But when it comes to fans, there are very few, if any, who can compete with the passion of Celtic supporters. Most players who have played for the Hoops or against them inevitably end up saying that.

Of course, Celtic could do with a goalkeeper of prime Forster's quality right now. Joe Hart will be retiring at the end of the season and hopefully, the Hoops will bring in a long-term replacement for him.
