It is safe to say that Celtic fans are not fond of many Rangers players, past or present. The rivalry between the two Glasgow sides is legendary and there is not much left to write about it, that has not already been written many times over over the years. But it looks like one of the Ibrox club's former players grew up wearing the Hoops.

Quite a few controversial players have represented the Rangers over the years. Joey Barton is someone who belongs in that category.

Barton played for clubs like Manchester City, Newcastle United, QPR and more through the course of his career. He even represented the England national team on one occasion. But he is mostly remembered for his disciplinary problems.

Barton joined the Rangers in 2016 but his stint at Ibrox was brief. But now, he has openly admitted to wearing Celtic kits while growing up.

As reported by Glasgow Times, Barton appeared on the James English Podcast. During his appearance, he admitted that while growing up "every third kit I got was a Celtic kit".

Despite having a connection with Celtic while growing, Barton would go on to represent the Rangers. His time at Ibrox was not nearly as successful as their fans would have been hoping though.

Barton joined the Rangers in the summer of 2016 on what was believed to be a two-year-deal. He would be gone before the year even ended though.

Barton has retired from the game since then. He is a manager these days. His first role was at Fleetwood Town and most recently he managed the Bristol Rovers. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for him but a future move to Parkhead does not seem to be on the cards.
