It is a move that most Celtic fans view as impossible and many would not want to see happen. Jordan Henderson has unexpectedly been linked with a possible move to Parkhead in the near future. The Liverpool legend left Anfield in the summer to join Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq but it looks like his stint there might be over soon.

Henderson is one of a number of players who appear to be looking to depart the league soon after their summer moves. And it remains to be seen what the future holds for him, and whether an exit actually materialises or not.

Celtic could do with someone of Henderson's experience. But it is hard to see where he would fit in in the current setup at Parkhead.

As tweeted by Fabrizio Romano, Ajax are showing concrete interest in signing Henderson in case he gets the green light to leave Al-Ettifaq in January. Several clubs are keen.

In case Henderson does end up leaving Al-Ettifaq in January, one would expect the Premier League to be his most likely destination. He has plenty of experience playing in the English top flight and was a key part of Liverpool's renaissance under the management of Jurgen Klopp.

At 33 years of age, Henderson should still have a bit of football left in the tank. Thus, there should not be any lack of clubs willing to sign him on a short-term basis.

Ultimately, a move to Celtic does not seem likely at all. But you never know when it comes to football. Let's see how things play out but there are other positions on the pitch where the Hoops need to improve more urgently than in the middle of the park, where they do actually have a good number of decent options.
