Fabrizio Romano confirms €17/18 million bid for Celtic player
Things are heating up at Celtic with regards to the summer transfer window. We have already seen four players leave the club, three on a permanent basis and Marco Tilio on loan. On the other hand, two fresh faces have arrived. Kasper Schmeichel is set to be the new number one following Joe Hart's retirement while Viljami Sinisalo has been brought in from Aston Villa as his cover option.
Plenty more exits and arrivals are expected to take place this summer. And one player whose name has been constantly in the headlines is Matt O'Riley.
O'Riley was Celtic's best player last season and that has caught the attention of clubs around Europe. Atletico Madrid tried to sign him in the winter to no avail. But it is very possible that the Danish midfielder could leave in the summer. Transfer offers are arriving on the club's table.
As tweeted by Fabrizio Romano, Atalanta have sent a new bid for O’Riley worth a €17/18 million package. Celtic want more but negotiations are underway to make it happen.

It is safe to say that Celtic would be looking for a much bigger transfer fee than that to part ways with O'Riley this summer. And with clubs like Juventus, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Liverpool being linked with him, as well as many others, they should not have a major problem getting it.
There is a belief that it would take a Scottish-record transfer bid to sign O'Riley this summer. That means higher than the £25 million fee Celtic were believed to have received for Kieran Tierney in 2019 and Jota in 2023.
Let's see what the future holds for O'Riley. The best-case scenario for Celtic would be him staying on for another year. But that would be difficult to pull off.
