Celtic have signed four players this summer so far. They have been solid signings and hopefully, the Hoops will be able to make a few more additions in the last week of the transfer window. On the other hand, there are a lot more who departed Parkhead over the past couple of months with another exit being made official recently.

Celtic have faced a lot of troubles in recent times, when it comes to convincing their best academy talents to stay. Rocco Vata left earlier this summer to join Watford. And now, Daniel Kelly will be joining him in the English Championship.

Millwall have announced the signing of Kelly on their official website. The midfielder arrives at The Den on a long-term deal.

Kelly had made a few appearances for Celtic last season, when both Callum McGregor and Reo Hatate were out injured. He impressed in those games, even scoring a goal. Thus, there were hopes that he would be the one to break the long-running streak of the club's academy graduates failing to establish themselves as starters at Parkhead. Some months on and that dream is already over.

Kelly was linked with clubs like Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen and Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham Hotspur this summer. But he has joined Millwall instead.

Thus, it looks like Kelly has prioritised playing time over joining a big-name club. And in that scenario, leaving Celtic makes sense for him, because playing time was hard to come by at Parkhead,

The club have players like Matt O'Riley, Hatate, McGregor, Paulo Bernardo, Odin Thiago Holm and Tomoki Iwata in their ranks. Kelly was always going to struggle to get regular playing time ahead of them. So, it is understandable to move to a Championship club, where minutes are going to be easier to come by.
