It is always interesting to see former Celtic players step into management after their playing careers come to an end. Some end up doing well, others don't. Quite a few even find themselves in the Parkhead hot seat. One such club legend must be looking forward to getting his coaching career back on track after an unexpected stumble earlier on in the campaign.

There are very few players in history who enjoyed as much success as Scott Brown did during his time at Celtic. His arms must have been tired of lifting trophies by the time he left in the summer of 2021 for Aberdeen.

The player-coach stint at Aberdeen did not go well and he ended up leaving in the middle of the campaign. Brown would then call time on his playing career and got his first managerial job the following season, taking charge at Fleetwood Town.

In Brown's first season at Fleetwood Town, they improved in the league and had their best ever FA Cup run. But after a slow start to the 2023/24 campaign, he was shown the exit door in early September. Now, he is back in a job though.

As reported by Ayr United's official website, Brown has joined as their new Head Coach. Steven Whittaker is the Assistant Head Coach. They are on contract until at least June 2026.

Brown has a tough job on his hands, getting the season back on track for a struggling Ayr United side. They are 9th in the Championship table, only two points ahead of bottom-placed Arbroath.

Let's see how Brown does at Ayr United. This is a risky job for him for sure. If he does end up succeeding at the Championship club, it is hard to see where his coaching career would go next.
