Celtic are heading towards a very important summer transfer window. They won their third-straight league title this time around but there is clearly a lot of room for improvement, as Brendan Rodgers' side had an inconsistent campaign overall. There is a desire to see the club show improvement in Europe as well.

One area which Celtic will need to address this summer is between the posts. Joe Hart will be retiring from the game after next weekend's Scottish Cup final against the Rangers.

Hart has not only been an important player for Celtic for the past three seasons but a leader to a squad full of youngsters as well. So, the club have big boots too fill, that is for sure.

They have been linked with high-profile players like Caoimhin Kelleher, Andriy Lunin and Ugurcan Cakir. But it looks like it is a Bayer Leverkusen loanee who could be Celtic's next number one.

As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are working on a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen's Patrick Pentz. The goalkeeper’s ability with the ball at his feet has caught the eye of Rodgers who will look for his new number one between the posts to help build forward from the back.

Of course, Hart was more of a traditional goalkeeper, who never excelled with the ball at his feet. That is one area where Celtic could certainly improve as they look to recruit their next number one.

It is hard to judge what someone like Pentz would bring to the table. He has had a decent spell on loan with Brondby but could not make an impression at teams like Bayer Leverkusen and Reims before that. Playing for Celtic is not just about being a good player but also being able to deal with the pressure as well.
