Celtic have been very active in the January transfer window when it comes to outgoings. The headlines have been dominated by rumours of interest in Liel Abada from clubs in England, Germany and France and the news that Atletico Madrid have submitted a bid for Matt O'Riley, initially on loan with an obligation to sign him in the summer.

Amidst all this, there is talk of another player potentially leaving which has gotten somewhat lost in the mix. That is pretty similar to his situation in the team though.

Mikey Johnston has slipped further down the pecking order following the arrival of Nicolas Kuhn this month. And now, it looks like he is eyeing a Parkhead exit on a loan deal.

As reported by Football Scotland, Johnston is waiting for the green-light from Celtic to head out on loan this month. West Brom are believed to be keen on signing him. The player awaits the go-ahead from Brendan Rodgers.

Johnston spent last season out on loan as well, at Vitoria SC in Portugal. And it looks like he is going to do the same in the second half of this campaign.

In many ways, it feels like this was his last chance to make an impression at Celtic. While he did make some positive contributions, he did not do enough to become a key part of Rodgers' plans. Now, it remains to be seen whether a loan move to West Brom materialises or not.

Johnston leaving would not be a major blow for Celtic considering the options that they have on the flanks right now. The same cannot be said about Abada though and the Hoops must make sure that the winger remains at Parkhead beyond the January transfer window.
