Celtic want to sign excellent Bristol City striker
Celtic need to sign a striker in January amid the inconsistent performances of Kyogo and Oh Hyeon-gyu this season. The latter is also away at the AFC Asian Cup, representing the South Korean national team. Thus, it would make sense for the Hoops to add another option up front before the winter transfer window closes.
They have been linked with quite a strikers as well. Sydney van Hooijdonk, Bojan Miovski, Lawrence Shankland and Mathias Kvistgaarden are some names that come to mind immediately.
Most fans would like to see the club sign a proven goalscorer, who can come in and start delivering from the off. But it looks like the Hoops have their eyes set on bringing in a 'project' signing instead, as they have done so many times lately.
Celtic seem to have set their sights on one of the English Championship's most promising young strikers. But he is wanted by many other teams as well, including the Rangers.
Celtic want to sign excellent Bristol City striker
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic and Rangers are tracking Bristol City's Tommy Conway. Wolves, Nottingham Forest and Brentford are interested in him too.
Conway put his names in the headlines recently with his performances against West Ham United in the FA Cup. He scored an equaliser against them in order to make a replay necessary. And then, he scored the winner in the following game against the Hammers.
Conway scored 12 goals in all competitions last season. He has backed that up with another promising campaign. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 8 goals in 22 appearances in 2023/24 so far.
Conway is 21 years of age and has plenty of room for development. At the same time, it is also worth pointing out that Bristol City have been a bottom half Championship team for years, which make his performances even more impressive.
