With Celtic in need of finding a first-choice goalkeeper to replace the retiring Joe Hart between the posts next season, it is no wonder that the club have been linked with plenty of players in recent months. Players like Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool and Andriy Lunin of Real Madrid have been suggested as possible options as have goalkeepers playing in the lower divisions of English football.

It is safe to say that Celtic have been linked with a variety of goalkeepers lately. And another name has been added to that list now.

As reported by The Sun, Celtic are interested in signing Viljami Sinisalo of Aston Villa. Brendan Rodgers has been impressed by the £3million-rated goalkeeper, who is also being eyed by a number of Championship clubs.

Sinisalo joined Aston Villa back in 2018 but has only made a couple of appearances for the club. Instead, he has spent most of his time out on loan, spending this season in League One with Exeter City.

Interestingly, Sinisalo already has experience of Scottish football. He has spent time out on loan at Ayr United in the Championship.

Sinisalo's lack of first-team football at Aston Villa has not stopped him from becoming a part of the Finland national team though. The 22-year-old has appeared a couple of times at the international level already.

Of course, there would be plenty of risk involved with signing someone like Sinisalo to replace Hart. The Aston Villa goalkeeper is highly rated for sure but he is not proven at the highest level, having played most of his football in the lower divisions.

Although, it is possible that Celtic could sign more than one goalkeeper this summer. The future of Benjamin Siegrist at Parkhead is in doubt as well.
