Celtic's search for their next goalkeeper seems to be taking the club far and wide. Of course, they have been linked with names close to home. But at the same time, the Hoops are clearly not overlooking those currently playing in numerous leagues around Europe, which are not as high profile as others.

Interestingly, a Bosnia and Herzegovina international appears to be on their radar. And he is available on a free transfer this summer.

That player is none other than Kenan Piric. Most Celtic fans would not have heard of him before this, but it looks like he is one of the players in consideration to replace Joe Hart as the club's number one, with the Englishman retiring after three seasons as first-choice between the posts at Parkhead.

As reported by The Sunday Mirror [02/06 print edition, p. 61] (via 67 Hail Hail), Piric is ‘being watched’ by Celtic alongside Southampton and Sheffield United. He left Cypriot side AEK Larnaca at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Piric has had a bit of a journeyman career so far. He has represented a variety of clubs across several leagues in Europe. Could his next stop be Scotland with Celtic? Time shall tell.

Of course, most Celtic fans would not be convinced by the idea of Piric replacing Hart as the number one. But it is very possible that the club could be looking to sign more than one goalkeeper this summer.

They have been linked with plenty of other goalkeepers as well and for the time being, it does not look like anybody has emerged as the clear favourite to replace Hart come next season. The picture should get a lot clearer over the coming days and weeks though, as we approach the summer transfer window.
