Who will be Celtic's next number one between the posts? That is a question on the mind of every supporter this summer. Joe Hart had held that position for the previous three seasons, since his arrival in 2021 from Tottenham Hotspur. But with the Englishman retiring at the end of the 23/24 campaign, the club need to bring in a replacement in this window.

It is only natural that Celtic have been linked with a number of goalkeepers. Quite a few of them are playing at the ongoing EURO 2024 tournament in Germany.

Some others are not. Caoimhin Kelleher is one such example. But it looks like the Hoops have their eyes on one of his Republic of Ireland teammates as well, as they keep their options open.

As reported by The Irish Sun, Brendan Rodgers is a fan of Kelleher but Mark Travers has been looked at as a more realistic option. Bournemouth are looking for a £10 million transfer fee for his signature which could scare off clubs such as Celtic and Crystal Palace.

Travers has made some appearances for the Republic of Ireland national team and featured almost 80 times for Bournemouth, although most of them have come at the Championship level. He has had a loan stint at Stoke City as well.

It goes without saying that Travers does not have the experience or pedigree of someone like Hart. But the 25-year-old could prove to be a long-term solution between the posts.

It remains to be seen who Celtic end up making a move for this summer. With the number of players being linked with the club, it is hard to get a real idea of who their top targets actually are. Also, it is possible that they might add more than one goalkeeper to their ranks, with Benjamin Seigrist expected to leave.
