Celtic will definitely need to sign a first-choice goalkeeper in the summer, with Joe Hart deciding to retire at the end of the season. There had been some speculation that the Englishman could be offered an extension on the back of his impressive recent performances but that is now completely off the table.

Celtic's backup options in goal are Scott Bain and Benjamin Siegrist. Neither has shown enough to be handed the first-team gloves when Hart retires.

So, a new number one is needed. Celtic have been rumoured to hold an interest in a number of goalkeepers. The name of Ugurcan Cakir of Trabzonspor is doing the rounds of Turkish media. But Caoimhin Kelleher is the player they have been linked with most heavily in recent months.

It will not be a simple task to sign the Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper though. In fact, matching the transfer fee that Liverpool might want for him might be pretty much impossible for Celtic.

Celtic told how much they need to pay to sign Kelleher

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Mark Guidi said on The Go Radio Football Show:

"They have been linked to Kelleher at Liverpool and I said three or four weeks ago, Liverpool will be looking for at least £20m for him. At least £20m.

“After his performance yesterday, it could be £30m. In fact Liverpool probably won’t let him go."

To be honest, it is very realistic for Liverpool to look for that kind of a transfer fee to part ways with Kelleher. He has proven himself to be an excellent goalkeeper whenever given a chance to play. And rumours suggest that the club turned down an offer in the region of £15 million for him in the winter window.

Also, there is no reason for Liverpool to not consider Kelleher as their next number one. Alisson Becker is a phenomenal goalkeeper but he is 31 years of age. Also, a new manager will be arriving at Anfield next summer and he might have other ideas in regards to the position between the posts.
