Celtic need to strengthen in a number of areas across the pitch in the summer. One of them is believed to be centre-back. Cameron Carter-Vickers the club's best defender without a doubt but he has been dealing with a lot of fitness issues lately. Liam Scales is the one who has featured most heavily in the heart of defence and while he has done a decent job, many fans believe that the Hoops can improve in that area.

It would not come as a major surprise if Celtic went on to sign another centre-back in the summer. They have not been linked with a lot of players in that position, with the focus seeminly being on signing new goalkeeper to replace Joe Hart.

There are some centre-backs who are believed to be on Celtic's radar though. One of them is Jake Clarke-Salter of QPR.

The former Chelsea centre-back has been a standout in the English Championship this season and that has seen him being linked with quite a few high-profile clubs, one of them being Celtic. But it looks like it will take a significant transfer fee to sign him.

As tweeted by John Percy, Clarke-Salter's transfer fee is likely to be £5 million to £7 million. Stoke City and other clubs, including in the Premier League, are potentially interested.

Clarke-Salter came through the ranks at Chelsea and was even believed to be the long-term successor to John Terry by many. But like so many others, consistent chances never came at Stamford Bridge, and his development did not go according to expectations.

Now, 26 years of age, Clarke-Salter is finally showing his potential at QPR. Will that translate into a summer move to Celtic Park? Time shall tell.
