Celtic need to strengthen in a few positions across the pitch. Left-back might very well be one of them. Greg Taylor has improved as the season has progressed but he still is not performing at the level that he was in Ange Postecoglou's system. On the other hand, it feels like Alexandro Bernabei is completely out of the picture.

Bernabei was signed in the summer of 2022 from Lanus for a transfer fee believed to be around £3.5 million. He became the first Argentine player in Celtic's history in the process.

Bernabei has never found his feet at the club and it looks like Celtic might bring in reinforcements at left-back soon. One player they have been linked with recently is Tiago Araujo of Estoril.

Araujo has been a man in form in Portugal. Rumours have linked him with a move to Celtic but the Hoops might have to shell out a significant transfer fee if they want the Benfica youth graduate.

As reported by Football Scotland, Celtic can expect to pay a transfer fee around £4.2 million for Araujo. According to reports in Portugal, he would command a slightly higher fee than Estoril's record exit which remains Wolves' £4 million signing of Chiquinho.

It remains to be seen if Celtic make a move of that magnitude for Araujo. It is certainly with the Hoops' range, if they really want to sign the Portuguese youngster who can play in mulitple positions.

Of course, if they do manage to get a deal done, Araujo would not be the first Benfica youth graduate Celtic have signed. Jota and Paulo Bernardo have been brought in in recent years as well. Let's see if the Hoops are successful in strengthening their left flank.
