With Fabio Silva headed for Ibrox, Celtic need to sign a striker as soon as possible too. The Portuguese youngster was linked with the Hoops as well but it is believed that they decided against making a move for him. It remains to be seen who they end up adding to their ranks up top next month though.

They do need to make an addition in that area. Firstly, because of the unconvincing form of Kyogo and Oh Hyeon-gyu this season. Secondly, because both could be away next month for the AFC Asian Cup.

Bojan Miovski of Aberdeen has been heavily linked with Celtic in recent times. But it feels like Lawrence Shankland of Hearts could be a potential option as well, with the Hearts captain in tremendous form lately.

Shankland has been superb and has scored against both Celtic and the Rangers on more than one occasion this season already. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 16 goals and provided 3 assists in 26 appearances for Hearts in the campaign so far.

Celtic tipped to weigh up move for Premiership striker

As reported by the Daily Record, Stephen McGinn said while speaking on the Go Radio Football Show:

"I don't think Celtic would think 'we can't sign Lawrence Shankland because he is a Rangers fan' - I think they will be weighing that up. There is no doubt they need a striker and I'm sure he will be a name that has come up. But he is so important to Hearts they will pull out all the stops."

The one thing working against a move for Shankland might be his age. He is 28 and Celtic have mostly focused on signing youngsters in recent times, with an eye on developing and then transferring them in the future.

But Shankland is as close they can to a guaranteed success in the Premiership. He has proven himself for many years now and seems to be entering his prime right now.

To be honest, Shankland might just be the type of striker Celtic need to sign next month. Someone who can come in and start delivering without taking time to adjust.
