Celtic tipped to let £20 million superstar go
Celtic are on the verge of another league title triumph, which is set to be their third straight one. The 2-1 win over the Rangers put them six points clear with just two league games left to be played. On top of that, they have a much better goal difference as well. An excellent position to be in and it would take a miracle for them to not win it from here.
The club will also have the chance to do a potential double, as they are also in the final of the Scottish Cup. Standing in their way at Hampden Park will be the Rangers, who are yet to win a Glasgow Derby this season but did lift the League Cup earlier on in the campaign.
Even if Celtic finish the campaign with a double, one would expect that they would try to strengthen their squad in the summer. The Hoops' performances and results this season left a lot to be desired.
For a major squad rebuild to take place, the club might need to part ways with one of their key players in the first place. And there have been plenty of rumours surrounding the future of someone like Matt O'Riley already.
Celtic tipped to let £20 million superstar go
As reported by The Celtic Way, John Hartson said on Go Radio:
"If they get £20million for Matt O’Riley, Cameron Carter-Vickers or any of the other players I think they let them go and rebuild again.
"We saw Jota go last season and Kieran Tierney go a couple of years ago - if the offers come in I don’t think Celtic have any issues with letting players go.
"So I think Brendan Rodgers will need help for going into the Champions League. They will need more quality in certain positions."
Out of those two, O'Riley looks like the much more likely candidate to leave in the summer. He has had an excellent season, is a Denmark international now and has been linked with clubs like Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Manchester United and many others in recent months.
On the other hand, Carter-Vickers is an excellent player without doubt. But he has not had a great season, as he has struggled with fitness issues throughout but has thankfully been available during this important period of the campaign.
