One thing Celtic have not gotten enough credit for this season is agreeing to contract extensions with most of their key players. It is not often that we see so many new deals being handed out at Parkhead at the same time. Of course, not everyone did sign an extension earlier in the campaign though and one of them is being linked with a move to the Premier League lately.

The player in question is none other than Cameron Carter-Vickers. Of course, he still has a long-term contract with Celtic which is believed to run till the summer of 2026.

Carter-Vickers has not had a great season, as he has been dealing with fitness issues for a while. But when fit and available, he is a starter in Brendan Rodgers' team and one of their most consistent performers.

As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic are in talks with Carter-Vickers about a new deal. West Ham United, Brentford and Nottingham Forest have all been linked with the centre-back but Rodgers wants to build a side around the American international.

There is zero doubt that Carter-Vickers is an important part of this team. Agreeing an extension with him would be viewed as a major boost.

The major hope that Celtic fans will have though is that Carter-Vickers returns to full fitness and is then able to stay fit for the foreseeable future. He has had too many problems in recent times and that has had an affect on the team's performances for sure.

Liam Scales is someone who has stepped up to the plate this season and he could potentially form a long-term partnership with Carter-Vickers in the heart of defence. Interestingly, Celtic have been linked with other centre-backs in recent times as well.
