Celtic submit £5.5 million bid for former Arsenal player
All eyes are on Celtic's search for Matt O'Riley replacement late in the summer transfer window, after the Danish international completed a move to Brighton & Hove Albion recently. It is never ideal to have so many things left to do with deadline day merely days away. It remains to be seen how successful the Hoops are in their quest to replace their best player from last season.
On the other hand, there are more positions where they are looking to bring in reinforcements as well. One of them seems to be centre-back, with a few defenders departing the club this summer.
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic have made an improved transfer bid for Auston Trusty. They have already had a £5 million offer turned down by Sheffield United and have responded by upping it to £5.5 million.
Trusty was at Arsenal not too long ago but was never able to make a senior appearance for them. He joined Sheffield United just last season but now, they find themselves in the Championship and there seem to be question marks over his future with th Blades.

Celtic seem to be looking for someone to compete with Liam Scales for the starting spot. Incidentally, Cameron Carter-Vickers must already know Trusty quite well as both of them are United States internationals.
It remains to be seen if Celtic are able to secure a deal to sign Trusty before the transfer window closes. It must be pointed out that Sheffield United are under no pressure to part ways with him, as he has a long-term contract with the club.
If Celtic are not able to sign Trusty, it is likely that they will stick with the options they already have at centre-back. Let's see how things play out.
