Celtic have been linked with quite a few goalkeepers in recent months as it is clear that they need to bring in a long-term replacement for Joe Hart soon. The Englishman has been the first-choice option between the posts since he joined the Hoops back in the summer of 2021 from Tottenham Hotspur. But he will turn 37 years of age soon and is in the final six months of his contract at Parkhead.

While Celtic mostly stick to signing 'project' players, they have been linked with a few high-profile goalkeepers as well. One of them is Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool.

Kelleher has delivered whenever given a chance by Liverpool. Unfortunately, that has not been enough to move ahead of Alisson in the pecking order.

Kelleher is 25 years of age now though and needs to be playing regular football to take the next step in his career. Could a move to Celtic Park lie in his future?

Celtic stance on signing Kelleher as Liverpool want £20 million transfer fee

As reported by Football Insider, Liverpool will ask for a transfer fee of £20 million for Kelleher in the summer window. No club is likely to come close to matching that figure. The Hoops could prefer a loan-to-buy deal for the goalkeeper if the Premier League giants reduce their expectations. The player is keen to leave Anfield soon to get regular football.

Kelleher could be an excellent signing for Celtic. But bringing him to Parkhead would not be easy, not just because of the transfer fee but also due to the amount of interest in his signature.

Andriy Lunin is another high-profile goalkeeper Celtic have been linked with in recent months. Following his excellent performances for Real Madrid, a move for the 24-year-old feels unlikely though, with clubs like Chelsea and Bayern Munich being linked with him.
