Celtic hero Scott Brown takes fantastic dig at Rangers
Scott Brown returned to Ibrox, a ground he enjoyed so many wins at as an opposition player through the course of time on the pitch, as manager of Ayr United. It was a fifth round match in the Scottish Cup and unfortunately, the Celtic icon was not able to inspire his side to victory although the Championship team did put in a good performance.
Ultimately, the Rangers proved to be too tall a mountain for them to climb though. Borna Barisic and Fabio Silva scored in a 2-0 win for the Ibrox club although many felt that Philippe Clement's side should have had a player sent off but did not.
Still, Brown should be content with his team's display. Ayr United have certainly improved quite a bit since his appointment as their manager.
Brown also took a cheeky dig at the Rangers after the Scottish Cup game. While speaking to Viaplay Sports, he said:
"I was expecting a bit more to be fair, but they were a bit scared because I've won too much here."
Celtic hero takes fantastic dig at Rangers despite seeing Ayr United lose
Brown quite certainly won his fair share of games at Ibrox as a player. It remains to be seen how his managerial career goes.
He has had an up-and-down time as manager so far to be fair. His first role was at Fleetwood Town, and the debut campaign was a grand success. Under the management of Brown, they improved in League One and had their best ever run in the FA Cup.
The start to the 2023/24 campaign was not a good one for Fleetwood Town though and they ended up showing Brown the exit door early on in the season. Things have not improved for them despite that and they sit 23rd in the League One table right now.
As for Brown, he is back in management and Scotland with Ayr United. Hopefully, Broony will have a successful time there and the early signs are certainly quite positive.
