Celtic reportedly interested in Southampton boss
It feels like the winds of change are blowing around Celtic Park and not just on the pitch but off it as well. We have seen a number of changes take place at Parkhead in recent times. Hopefully, the transfer strategy will improve following the departure of Mark Lawwell. On the other hand, it looks like the coaching setup at the youth levels is undergoing some alterations as well.
Of course, Celtic have not been successful in promoting standout academy youngsters into the senior team for many years now. So, that is another area where they need to improve.
As reported by the Daily Record, Jonny Hayes and Charlie Mulgrew are under consideration for the under-18 coaching role as is Southampton u21 manager, Adam Asghar, and an internal candidate. It is likely that Celtic will take two from their shortlist to fill both vacancies at the club.
The Hoops have two coaching position vacancies at the moment. They are looking for an u18 coach as well as somebody to come in and replace Darren O’Dea, who has made a switch from the B team to become the club’s pathway manager.

Asghar is no stranger to Scottish football. He came up through the ranks at Motherwell as a player and went on to have spells at quite a few clubs without much success.
Asghar has also spent time at Dundee United as a coach and had a spell at Sunderland before moving to Southampton. It remains to be seen if he ends up earning himself a move back to Scotland in the near future.
One thing that Celtic need to make sure is to hand more opportunities to the youngsters who have come through the ranks at the club. Of course, that is easier said than done when you consider the pressure to win almost every game throughout the season.
