Celtic ready to hold talks with 26-year-old defender
Most of the recent headlines have been about players that Celtic could end up signing in the upcoming summer transfer window and it is easy to see why that is the case. There is no doubt that Brendan Rodgers' squad is in need of reinforcements in several positions across the pitch. But at the same time, it is important keep the core of the current team together as well.
One player who has often faced criticism during his time at Celtic Park, having joined in the summer of 2019, is Greg Taylor. But there is zero doubt that he is the best left-back the club have right now.
Taylor has been the starter in Rodgers' side when fit and available. He will soon be entering the final year of his current deal though.
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic plan to hold new contract talks with Taylor. There is a willingness from both parties to get a deal done and the left-back is expected to agree fresh terms to extend his stay at the club.

A lot of fans want Celtic to sign a new left-back in the summer and to be honest, that has to be one of the things near the top of their wish list. But at the same time, Taylor signing an extension would be good news for the Hoops as well.
What Celtic really need in that left-back position is some competition. One could argue that Alexandro Bernabei was never really a genuine contender for the starting spot and the Argentine has left on loan as well.
It remains to be seen what Celtic end up doing regarding the left-back spot in the summer. They have not been linked with many left-backs lately with most of the focus appearing to be on replacing Joe Hart, who will be retiring after this season.
