Celtic ready to break transfer record on marquee signing
Celtic's recent transfer activity has left the club's supporters completely disappointed and questioning their lack of ambition. There have been calls to add experience and proven quality to this squad for a while. But instead, the Hoops have focused on bringing in youngsters from all over the world, in hopes that they develop into first-team stars.
Rarely have those moves worked out for Celtic. The only signing this season, who has made a consistent impact, is Luis Palma. And there has been criticism of his overall play as well.
Adam Idah has made a bright start to life at Celtic and Yang Hyun-jun has shown some promise with his latest performances. Now, it remains to be seen if they can deliver consistently or fade away over the coming weeks.
One way or the other, next summer is going to be very important for Celtic, especially if they fail to win the league title. And interestingly, it does look like the Hoops have big plans in place already.
Celtic ready to break transfer record on marquee signing
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic plan to break their club transfer record this summer. It is understood that the Glasgow club have set aside a ‘huge sum’ to secure a marquee arrival.
It remains to be seen how accurate the rumours turn out to be. It is worth remembering that there was similar speculation last summer as well and ultimately, it was all for nothing.
Celtic have been linked with some high-profile players lately though, with the most prominent of them being Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool. Their current transfer record stands at £9 million, the figure they shelled out in order to sign Odsonne Edouard from Paris Saint-Germain.
Hopefully, we will get to see the club surpass that mark in the summer. Let's see how things end up playing out.
