Celtic's need to sign a goalkeeper this summer has seen them being linked with a variety of goalkeepers this summer. Joe Hart enjoyed a great three-year run at Parkhead, winning seven trophies and becoming a fan favourite over that time. But it is safe to say that most supporters would like the club to sign a long-term option between the posts this time around.

There has not been much stability in that position for some time now. Hart was always viewed as a short-term solution and not many had expected him to spend three years as the club's number one.

It looks like the Hoops are considering a similar type of deal, in hopes of replicating the success of the Hart signing. And a 35-year-old Premier League player is in their sights.

As reported by TEAMtalk, Celtic have made contact with Newcastle United regarding the conditions of a deal for Martin Dubravka. He is believed to be available for transfer.

Dubravka played a decent bit of football for Newcastle United last season. But with the club expected to bring in another goalkeeper to challenge Nick Pope this summer, his time at St James' Park is believed to be up.

Someone like Dubravka could be a decent short-term addition for Celtic. But if the club do end up signing him as their new number one, a lot of supporters are not expected to be happy.

It remains to be seen how things will play out for Celtic in the summer transfer window. Whether it is Dubravka or somebody, one can only hope that the club get the recruitment right. They cannot afford a repeat of the Vasilis Barkas. It is very possible that they do end up signing more than one goalkeeper, with Benjamin Siegrist's future at Parkhead uncertain.
