Things are slowly but surely starting to pick up pace for Celtic. A couple of players have already left, with Yosuke Ideguchi joining Vissel Kobe on a permanent basis while Kwon Hyeok-kyu has joined St Mirren on loan till the end of the season. On the other hand, a move for Nicolas Kuhn of Rapid Vienna is believed to be close although not completely over the line yet, as the Austrian club look for his replacement.
There are more players who could head out of Celtic this month as well. One of them is Gustaf Lagerbielke, who was signed from IF Elfsborg in the summer for a transfer fee believed to be around €3.5 million.
Lagerbielke has not been able to establish himself in Brendan Rodgers' team though. He played a bit of football early on in the season but has since spent most of the time sitting on the bench or in the reserves.
He did have one big moment for the Hoops, scoring the winner against Feyenoord, their first win in the Champions League since 2017. But even that has not translated into more playing time for the Swedish international who looks set for the exit door this month.
Celtic player tipped to leave the club in January
As reported by Football Scotland, reports from Italy have suggested that Lagerbielke could well be on his way out of Celtic with Lecce believed to be interested in signing him on loan. Potential interest has been fielded from Genoa as well, who saw Radu Dragusin join Tottenham Hotspur recently.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Lagerbielke. Italy looks like his most likely destination if he does end up leaving Celtic this month.
To be very honest, Lagerbielke has never looked like the right fit for Celtic. It seems to be another case of bad recruitment on the part of the Hoops.
