Celtic have started their pre-season off with a couple of interesting results. And things are only expected to get tougher for Brendan Rodgers' side moving forward. Celtic will be heading to the United States this summer in order to play three friendly games against DC United, Manchester City and Chelsea.

Of course, one would hope that the club will be have signed some new players by then. They are yet to make a signing in this summer transfer window.

The first signing of the summer seems to be close for Celtic though. Kasper Schmeichel is believed to be on the verge of joining the club and he will be replacing Joe Hart, who retired at the end of last season. There have been rumours that the Hoops have made progressed regarding a deal for Paulo Bernardo as well.

It will be very interesting to see how Celtic do on their pre-season tour of the United States. While the results don't matter, it is an opportunity for players to impress the manager with their performances against high-profile opposition and move ahead in the pecking order. Unfortunately, Maik Nawrocki will not get the chance to do that.

As reported by The Scotsman, Celtic will head to America without Nawrocki. He picked up an injury against Ayr United and is set to miss the bulk of pre-season.

Nawrocki picked up an injury in the very first game of Celtic's pre-season campaign and had to be substituted off before even 20 minutes were on the clock. And now, he is set to miss a golden opportunity to get some playing time under his belt against the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea.

On top of that, Celtic are believed to be looking to sign another centre-back. So, the injury might have come at the worst possible time for Nawrocki.
