Celtic have seen quite a few of their players depart this summer and more could be set to follow. The exits have included some of the club's best talents. Rocco Vata has left for Watford. And in an unexpected switch, the Hoops have parted ways with Bosun Lawal as well, with him joining Stoke City. Now, it looks like another highly-rated youngster could be on the verge of departing Parkhead for the English Championship.

The player in question is none other than Daniel Kelly. He played quite a few times for Celtic last season.

There was hope that the club would be able to agree a new contract with Kelly, with his current one believed to be running out at the end of this year. But that has not happened, and now, a Celtic exit seems to be an inevitability.

Kelly is rumoured to have agreed a pre-contract deal with Millwall. But the English club are believed to be interested in bringing him in this summer itself and could end up reaching an agreement with Celtic to do that.

As reported by Football Insider, Kelly had drawn interest from some of Europe’s top clubs including Tottenham Hotspur and Bayer Leverkusen. However, the midfielder rejected offers from those clubs and decided his best option was to move to Millwall.

Kelly's aim seems to be clear. To get playing time and a clear pathway into the senior team. Unfortunately, that has rarely been available at Celtic in recent years.

The last player who came through the Celtic academy and became a starter was Kieran Tierney. It has been several years since then. The likes of Mikey Johnston, Stephen Welsh and Anthony Ralston have been in and around the first-team but only as role players. So, it is understandable why youngsters choose to leave.
