Even though most of the recent speculation has been about potential incomings, there are quite a few players who could head out of Celtic Park this summer. It is no secret that the Hoops need to sign a new number one in the upcoming transfer window following Joe Hart's retirement, another goalkeeper seems to be heading for the exit door.

That player is none other than Benjamin Siegrist. He had arrived amid a lot of expectations in the summer of 2022.

Siegrist was proven in the Scottish game, having had a solid spell at Dundee United before joining Celtic. There were many who even believed that he would eventually become the number one ahead of Hart.

None of that happened though. Siegrist has only made two appearances during his two years at Celtic. And it should come as no surprise that he seems to be aiming for an exit as soon as possible.

It looks like the goalkeeper has no desire to continue at Celtic judging from his comments. As reported by Football Scotland, Siegrist said in a wide-ranging interview with Blick:

"After my last day at work, I'll leave as soon as possible. And I'll never come back here (to Celtic). No. I'm going to retire there (Australia). But not yet. Britt has already indicated that she could do her podcast from Europe. We're excited."

So, it looks like Celtic might need to sign more than one goalkeeper this summer. It is absolutely necessary to replace Hart as number one. But Siegrist had a squad role as well.

It is very possible that that role could be filled by a youngster already at the club. That might be a good chance for him to continue his development in the senior game.

Or, Celtic might view it as an opportunity to sign a couple of good goalkeepers who could end up competing for the first-team spot. At this point, Scott Bain is not expected to do that and will remain as a cover option for the foreseeable future.
