This has been a rollercoaster season for Celtic but it does feel like they are set to finish it at the top. The 2-1 win over the Rangers at Parkhead this weekend virtually ended the title race for all intents and purposes. The Hoops now sit six points clear with just two league games to go and have a much better goal difference as well. Of course, they will look to put it beyond any doubt when they take on Kilmarnock at Rugby Park next. Only one point will be enough on the day.

One player who has been on an individual rollercoaster ride himself is James Forrest. After spending the majority of the campaign out of the first-team picture, he has emerged as a key player in recent weeks.

Forrest's contributions over the last few games have been very important in Celtic's quest to win the league title. And he was even a starter against the Rangers at Parkhead, something that not many could have predicted even a month back. The veteran winger most certainly earned that spot with his performances.

It had looked like Forrest's Celtic career was fading away. He was even linked with a move away in the winter. But now, it looks like the winger wants to make the most of this second wind.

As reported by Football Insider, Forrest is looking to land a new Celtic contract next season. He hopes to finish his career at the club.

Forrest has been a fantastic player for Celtic for many years. In recent seasons, he had found getting into the team very difficult though.

But he has now proven that he can still contribute to the team. Also, you simply cannot replace the experience that someone like Forrest has. So, it would be understandable if he is handed an extension.
