The January transfer window is already over and it was not a great one for Celtic by any stretch of the imagination. There were high hopes that the club would strengthen considerably with the league title race up in the air and shaky first half of the season from Brendan Rodgers' team, that was filled with injuries to key players and unconvincing performances.

Unfortunately, Celtic did not appear to show enough ambition in the January transfer window. Nicolas Kuhn was signed for a transfer fee believed to be around £3 million while Adam Idah was brought in on loan for the rest of the season from Norwich City.

In the eyes of most supporters, this was nearly not enough. On the other hand, there were quite a few players who departed Parkhead, either on loan or on a permanent basis.

And even though the January transfer window is closed, the exits could continue. Could James Forrest be the next one to leave?

As reported by Football Insider, Forrest could yet leave Celtic in the coming months in an out-of-window deal. Major League Soccer clubs are now monitoring his situation at Parkhead. The US window remains open until 23 April.

Forrest has been a bit-part player for Celtic for several seasons now, since his injury problems began in the 2020/21 campaign. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 18 appearances and played 418 minutes of football this season so far, scoring 2 goals.

Forrest was linked with a move away from Celtic late in the January transfer window as well but it did not materialise. Could we see the club legend and the longest serving player in the current squad make a move to the United States in the coming months though? Time shall tell.
