Celtic continued their winning start to the season with a 2-0 win over Hearts. It was not a classic performance from Brendan Rodgers' side but they did enough to get the job done. What must have made the win even sweeter is the fact that the goals came from summer signings, Arne Engels and Luke McCowan.

The result also meant that Kasper Schmeichel has kept clean sheets in all of his first five league games. No doubt a glorious start for the Danish goalkeeper, whose arrival as the replacement for Joe Hart had raised some eyebrows as fans had been hoping for a long-term addition instead of another veteran between the posts.

It is safe to say that Schmeichel is already proving the doubters wrong with his performances. In the win over Hearts, he matched a 118-year club record.

It is not often that you see a club not concede a single goal in their first five league games of the season. As reported by CeltsAreHere, Celtic last achieved this feat during the 1906-07 season under the management of Willie Maley when Davey Adams was in goal.

That is quite an achievement for sure. Schmeichel won't get too much time to dwell on it though, as the focus is already shifting towards midweek.

That is because Celtic are set to kick off their Champions League campaign against Slovan Bratislava at Parkhead. Interestingly, Schemiechel has a good record in Europe's top competition as well.

The new-look format does seem to give a team like Celtic a better chance of getting into the knockout phase of the competition or at least remaining in contention until the very end. For that to happen, they will need to get the better of teams like Slovan Bratislava. Easier said than done. There are no easy games in the Champions League.
