There are quite a few players at Celtic right now whose long-term futures at Parkhead are up in the air. In most cases, it is because they do not seem to feature in Brendan Rodgers' plans and have not played much football in recent times. But there are some who are performing for the Hoops but could potentially head for the exit door in the future.

Rodgers' arrival as manager has certainly helped a few players. Names like Matt O'Riley and Liam Scales come to mind immediately. But David Turnbull falls under that category as well.

Turnbull was not playing a lot of football under the management of Ange Postecoglou. He certainly has a bigger role with Rodgers at the club and has seemed to find some good form as well.

Turnbull has scored in each of the last four league games. That is very important contribution for a Celtic team that has struggled to find the back of the net at times this season. But it looks like the Scottish midfielder's long-term future at Parkhead remains uncertain.

In-form Celtic player considering future with contract expiring next summer

Turnbull's current deal at Celtic runs out next summer. As reported by The Herald, the Scottish midfielder is believed to be considering his options given his contract situation and his status within Rodgers' squad.

The best case scenario would be Turnbull extending his deal at Celtic Park. There have been suggestions that the club are open to handing him an extension. But the ball is now in Turnbull's court.

It is understandable why Turnbull might be taking his time with a decision. While he is playing a decent bit of football right now, that has not always been the case for him at Celtic. What happens when Reo Hatate is fit again? Will the Scot find himself on the bench again despite his good run of form?
