There has been an interesting change in the Celtic rumour mill in recent days. Suddenly, a lot of the speculation seems to be centred around players who could be on their way out this summer. Certainly, there are plenty who do not seem to have a long-term future at Parkhead and them leaving would make sense for all parties involved.
Celtic made a lot of great signings during Ange Postecoglou's first season at the club. But one cannot overlook the transfer misses in the following campaign.
Sead Haksabanovic is certainly one signing that has not worked out for Celtic. He showed a lot of promise early on in his stint at Parkhead but soon found himself on the bench. He then spent last season out on loan at Stoke City. He made a bright start there as well before fading away.
Now, it looks like he is closing in on a Parkhead exit. As reported by Fotboll Direkt, Haksabanovic is leaving Celtic and being signed by Malmo. The deal is expected to become official shortly.
Celtic player close to leaving the club for Malmo
It is quite clear that things will not work out for Haksabanovic at Celtic Park. Malmo could prove to be a solid destination for him.
Malmo are the reigning Allsvenskan champions and are challenging for the title once again this season. So, one would hope that Haksabanovic would do well at a club like that.
As for Celtic, Haksabanovic's exit should not come as a major problem. He had not featured much in his first season at the club and spent the previous campaign out on loan. There is no question that he has potential as a player but things clearly did not work out for him in Glasgow despite a bright start. Hopefully he does well somewhere else.
