The upcoming summer transfer window is set to be a very important one for Celtic for more reasons than one. Of course, the prime focus has to be on making sure that the squad is strengthened. While the Hoops are still in contention for a Premiership and Scottish Cup double, the performances and results in this campaign have not been up to the mark and that is something the club should not ignore.

While signing players will be important, it will be equally important to part ways with those who do not seem to have a future at Parkhead. Adam Montgomery seems to be one such player.

Montgomery had gotten a decent bit of playing time in Ange Postecoglou's first season at the club. But he has the last few years out on loan and had injury problems as well.

Now, as reported by Football Insider, Celtic will listen to offers for Montgomery this summer. He doesn’t have a long-term future at the club and is not part of Brendan Rodgers’s plans moving forward.

Montgomery is a left-back who can play further up the pitch as well. It is this versatility which saw him get some minutes early on in Postecoglou's run as the club were struggling for options and had a lot of injury problems back then.

But Montgomery's career has not been on an upward trajectory since then. It remains to be seen what the future holds but his time at Parkhead might be coming to an end soon.

If Montgomery does leave the club, it would represent another talented academy graduate who has failed to make it in the senior team. Unfortunately, this is a story we have seen on repeat for quite a few years now and there needs to be change.
