While Celtic fans have been left disappointed by the club's lack of activity in the winter transfer window, one thing the club deserve immense credit for is agreeing contract extensions with key players. They have been handing out new deals left, right and centre, and appear to have put another one of the table.

Not too long ago, it was looking like Rocco Vata was certain to leave Celtic. But things have changed in recent weeks and now, him agreeing an extension is not believed to be outside the realms of possibility.

Vata was brought on as a substitute in the game against Buckie Thistle and even ended up scoring. He was also on the bench in the following match, with Ross County.

As reported by Football Scotland, Vata has been offered a new four-year deal by Celtic. Both parties are still far apart in negotiations and talks will continue as nothing has been agreed.

It remains to be seen if Celtic can agree an extension with Vata or not. There is a lot of interested in his signature from other clubs as well.

In fact, Bologna and Como are believed to have put forward proposals. But it looks like Celtic have delayed accepting any offers until a decision is made on Vata's contract situation.

If Celtic are able to agree an extension with Vata, it would have to be seen as a boost for the club. He is arguably the standout performer in their B Team and someone who has the ability to become a first-team regular one day.

Of course, Celtic do not have a great recent record when it comes to promoting youngsters to the senior team. Let's see if the situation improves moving forward. One can only hope that it does.
