Celtic need to strengthen in the upcoming January transfer window. The problem is, that is not always easy to do. Clubs are never keen to let key players leave in the middle of the season and that only drives up the potential transfer fee. On top of that, some of the players that the Hoops have been linked with recently will not fill the fans with confidence.
That does not mean that there are not good deals to be done in January. And Celtic must definitely keep an eye out for potential loan deals.
Noni Madueke is someone who could be available. The England youth international has not featured much for Mauricio Pochettino's side this season, making a single start in the Premier League.
There have been flashes of quality during his time at Chelsea but someone like Madueke could benefit from a loan spell elsewhere. And Celtic should definitely see if there is a deal to be done in January.
Celtic must target Chelsea player in January window
While Madueke has not produced the numbers since joining Chelsea, he was excellent while at PSV. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 20 goals and provided 14 assists in 80 appearances for the Dutch club.
His numbers for PSV's youth sides were fantastic as well. And the winger has been an excellent contributor for England at the U-21 level too.
There is clearly a talented player in Madueke. And it is important to remember that he is still just 21 years of age. This is not someone who has been struggling for years. He just has had a few stumbles since joining Chelsea, but who has not lately?
If Celtic are able to sign someone of Madueke's quality and potential, it would have to be considered a major coup. The Hoops could certainly do with a mercurial winger like him, something they have been missing.
