Celtic needed to sign a striker in the January transfer window and while they did that, it might have only been a short-term fix for Brendan Rodgers' side. Adam Idah was brought in on loan from Norwich City until the end of the season. There is not believed to be any option to buy included but rumours have suggested that a £3 million transfer fee would be enough to sign him permanently next summer.

Of course, any such move would depend on his performances in the remainder of this campaign. It does look like Rodgers rates him highly and Idah is already starting games.

He showed a lot of calmness from the spot as well to score two penalties against Hibernian and win the game for Celtic. But Idah is yet to score a goal from open play in a Celtic jersey so far. And his scoring record at Norwich City is not cause for encouragement either.

It is very possible that Celtic might need to look for a striker next summer. And the perfect candidate might be available on a free transfer.

Kelechi Iheanacho's current deal with Leicester City runs out at the end of this season. And he might be available as a free agent next summer.

Iheanacho has been in and out of the starting XI at Leicester City this season. He is someone who worked extensively with Rodgers during their time together at King Power Stadium though. Thus, the Northern Irishman knows exactly what to expect from the striker.

Signing someone like Iheanacho would be a statement of intent on the part of Celtic. At the same time, the fact that he might be available as a free agent might make the move financially viable for the Hoops as well.
