After a slow start to the January transfer window, Celtic have been pretty active lately. The signing of Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Vienna seems like only a matter of time and hopefully that will open up the floodgates, leading to some more additions this month. On the other hand, there has been a lot of activity in terms of departures.
Yosuke Ideguchi has joined Vissel Kobe permanently, having gotten his career back on track while on loan at Avispa Fukuoka. Kwon Hyeok-kyu has moved to St Mirren till the end of the season. And it looks like another of the club's midfielders will leave this month.
As reported by Football Scotland, Mackenzie Carse is set to join Queen's Park on loan till the end of the campaign. A decision was made by both clubs to green-light the move.
Carse has been a standout for the Celtic B Team. Now, it looks like Hoops want him to play at a higher level in order to develop his game further.
Celtic midfielder set to join Championship club
Queen's Park are currently managed by Callum Davidson. Of course, the highlight of his managerial career was winning the Scottish Cup and League Cup double with St Johnstone. He might be the right manager to develop the game of someone like Carse.
Celtic's recent record of promoting youngsters to the senior team has not been good. The last one to make that jump and become a first-team regular was Kieran Tierney. He left back in 2019. It has been that long.
There has been lot of talk recently about the situation of Rocco Vata. He has been fantastic at the B Team level but that has not gotten him any chances in Brendan Rodgers' side. And now, he looks set to leave, whether that be this month or in the summer as a free agent.
