Celtic man set to leave the club and join Aston Villa
Celtic were always expected to undergo some changes over the course of the summer. They might have won the Premiership and Scottish Cup double last season but it feels like there is still a ton of room for improvement at the club. There were several points in the previous campaign when the Hoops were simply not good enough and many had even called for Brendan Rodgers to be shown the exit door.
Rodgers was able to prove his quality by the end of the campaign and he is expected to remain Celtic manager for the foreseeable future. There are several other areas where the club do with changes though, both on and off the pitch.
The recruitment setup is expected to look very different. And that was always expected to be the case after how many underwhelming signings had been made over the previous two seasons.
There looks set to be an unexpected exit as well though. As reported by Glasgow World, Celtic Commercial Director Adrian Filby is set to quit the club to take up the same position with Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Celtic man set to leave the club and join Aston Villa
Filby has spent a long time at the club. He has been at Celtic since 2008 and is set to leave just short a 16-year stint. But this is not his first stint at Parkhead either. He also worked as a Special Projects manager for the Hoops between 1997 and 2002.
During Filby's time at the club, Celtic pulled off some impressive commercial deals for which he deserves credit. We can only wish him the best of luck in his future.
One can only hope that Celtic are able to find a proper replacement for Filby soon. Of course, he might not have had anything to do with the on the pitch action but it is important role.
