Celtic appear to be eyeing a move for one of Brendan Rodgers' players from his time at Leicester City. The club were linked with Daniel Amartey last summer as well, as the Ghana international departed the King Power Stadium. A move to Parkhead did not materialise though and he ended up at Besiktas instead.

The 29-year-old's time at Besiktas has not been the most positive though. The Turkish giants finished 6th in the league and Amartey was one of the players who was criticised through the course of the campaign.

As a result, Amartey's future at Besiktas appears to be in doubt despite arriving just last summer. And Celtic have seemingly made their move for him.

As reported by Fanatik, Celtic want to sign Amartey. In fact, it is among the news that the Scottish champions have offered €4 million to complete this transfer.

Celtic reportedly make €4 million offer for Daniel Amartey

Amartey is a versatile and experienced player, who could potentially be a decent addition to this Celtic team. The biggest positive is the fact that Rodgers has already managed the Ghana international and knows what he brings to the table.

Of course, just because he is a former Premier League-level player does not guarantee that he would be a success at Celtic, Just look at how things have turned out for other centre-backs like Shane Duffy and Nat Phillips in recent years.

Celtic do seem to have a longstanding interest in Amartey though. It will be interesting to see if they are finally able to get a move over the line.

If Amartey were to arrive, one would expect him to compete with Liam Scales for the starting spot at centre-back. It is worth pointing out though that he is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder as well as a right-back.
