Celtic will need to make some significant additions to their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window. It is clear that the Hoops have allowed the Rangers to bridge the gap between the two Glasgow giants, if not get ahead. No matter how this season ends for Brendan Rodgers' team, silverware or not, they must strengthen the squad.

One area where Celtic will definitely need to sign a player is between the posts. That is because Joe Hart will be retiring from the game come the end of the season at 37 years of age.

Hart was signed by the club in the summer of 2021 from Tottenham Hotspur. While many had doubted the signing, the Englishman has been Celtic's number one goalkeeper for the past three seasons.

Hart has had his fair share of critics but nobody can deny that he has been an integral part of this team for the past three years, both as a player and a leader. So, Celtic have some big gloves to fill come the summer and it looks like they are already taking steps in that regard.

As reported by Taka Gazete, Ugurcan Cakir has entered Celtic's radar. In an official e-mail signed by the club CEO Michael Nicholson, he stated to the Trabzonspor management their intention to start transfer negotiations for the goalkeeper.

Cakir is the Turkish national team goalkeeper. At 28 years of age, he is also someone in his prime and a player you would expect to come in and immediately establish himself as a starter.

It remains to be seen if Celtic are ultimately able to sign someone like Cakir or not. One thing is clear though, in order to replace Hart between the posts, the club will need to aim high.
