Celtic and Liverpool both want to sign £10 million goalkeeper
Celtic will need to sign a top-quality goalkeeper this summer in order to replace Joe Hart, who enjoys his 37th birthday today and will be retiring at the end of the campaign. The Englishman might have faced quite a bit of criticism through the course of his time at Parkhead, but he has managed to ultimately prove his value on and off the pitch, and become a fan favourite in the process.
It is unsurprising that Celtic have been linked with a number of goalkeepers in recent times. Ugurcan Cakir of Trabzonspor, Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool and Michael Zetterer of Werder Bremen are just some of the names believed to be on their radar.
Now another name seems to have been added to that list. As reported by This is Anfield, Celtic have watched Anthony Patterson regularly this season. It is thought that a transfer bid worth in the region of £10 million to £15 million could bring Sunderland to the table.
Of course, that kind of a figure would make Patterson the most expensive signing in the history of Celtic. But the club might need to make that kind of an investment if they do want to bring in a top-quality goalkeeper capable of replacing Hart for the foreseeable future.

Patterson is 23 years of age and currently is the first-choice goalkeeper for Sunderland. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has kept 13 clean sheets in 43 Championship appearances this season.
The fact that clubs like Liverpool are believed to be interested in Patterson, goes on to show how highly he is rated. Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic do end up making a move for him or not.
Celtic might need to sign more than one goalkeeper in the summer. The future of Benjamin Siegrist at the club is uncertain.
